Anatole Krattiger

Expert in Intellectual Property Issues in Emerging markets


During the 1990s when Krattiger was leading the International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-Biotech Applications (ISAAA), he was developing projects for the transfer of agricultural biotechnology to Africa, Southeast Asia and Latin America. In Africa specifically, these involved deals between Mondi Forests in South Africa and Kenya, various banana tissue culture companies in South Africa and Kenya and Uganda, and deals with Monsanto and Eastern African countries and more. He also chaired the intellectual property audit of the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) in Kenya and advice ICIPE on intellectual property matters. In the early 2000s, he served on the steering committee as a consultant to the Rockefeller Foundation that led to the creation of PIPRA and advised the Rockefeller Foundation and the first CEO of AATF on the program strategy and policy of AATF. He also worked with the Medical Research Council of South Africa on their IP policy and worked with the Innovation Fund of South Africa on IP matters.
