Frank Greene, Ph. D.

Dr. Frank Greene came to Silicon Valley in the mid 1960s after being an electronics officer in the U.S. Air Force. He joined Fairchild Semiconductor where he designed memory chips and computer memory systems. In the early 1970s he became an entrepreneur, co-founding and building two technology companies that developed software and computer services. One company went IPO and another was sold to a large public software company in the mid 1980s.

He is the founding partner of NewVista Capital, a Silicon Valley venture capital firm that has invested in 26 start-up technology companies.

Since then he has been a venture investor in early stage companies, ten of which he continued his involvement as a member of the board. He is currently a board member of two companies.

He is past chairman of the board of the American Musical Theatre of San Jose and a former board member of the San Jose chapter of the National Conference of Community and Justice, a former board member of The History Makers Project in Chicago, and an emeritus of the Board of Trustees of Santa Clara University. He is a member of the Electrical and Computer Engineering School and the Business School Advisory Boards at Purdue University. He is a Senior Fellow of the American Leadership Forum of Silicon Valley and he received many awards including the Silicon Valley Engineering Hall of Fame.

Dr. Greene is President of the GO-Positive non-profit educational foundation. Through GO-Positive he has given talks and workshops on how to use the VRE Leadership Model to entrepreneurs, corporate and business professionals, and university engineering students and faculty. He has been a speaker at professional and business organizations and universities, including Stanford University, Santa Clara University, Purdue University, The Kellogg School at Northwestern and Morehouse College. He developed a VRE student leadership program for PACT in San Francisco. PACT is a TRIO project that serves 3,000 middle school and high school students in northern California.

He holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Washington University, an M.S. in EE from Purdue University and a Ph.D. in EE from Santa Clara University.
