Gary Zieff is Chief Operating Officer of dissigno LLC and Executive Director of dissigno Tanzania Ltd. Mr. Zieff leads strategy for dissigno’s Tanzania team, overseeing the implementation of a World Bank funded lighting and power project. The Family Power and Lighting delivers power and lighting to off-grid households in order to replace kerosene lanterns. In addition, under Mr. Zieff’s leadership dissigno Tanzania is implementing a solar school project with the Tanzanian Ministry of Energy. These projects are part of the One Thousand Schools in One Thousand Days project that is installing off-grid solar PV systems on schools and medical clinics in rural un-electrified communities of Western Tanzania.

For the US market Mr. Zieff has consulted on the construction of over 20 MW of solar PV including the 14 MW Nellis Air Force Base plant. His team currently manages 5 MW of solar PV in the US. Prior to starting dissigno in 2005 Mr. Zieff was a consultant Project Manager at the Shell Oil refinery in Martinez, CA. Mr. Zieff has been featured in Alternative Energy Africa Magazine. He has given lectures at Stanford Design School, San Jose State University, San Francisco State University, Engineers Without Borders, Intersolar and the UN/IEEE Humanitarian Technology Challenge Workshop.
