Ike Nnamani

Engr. Ikechukwu Nnamani is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Medallion Communications Limited. Engr. Nnamani has been able to build a viable company that has achieved all the goals of its founding members. Since January 2004 when Medallion was incorporated in Nigeria, under the leadership of Engr. Nnamani, the company has strived and carved out a niche in the Nigerian Telecom industry as an authority in interconnect exchange clearinghouse services. Medallion currently employs 18 full time staff and has 29 telecom operators in Nigeria as its customer including all the major GSM, CDMA, Fixed Line, ISPs, and Value Added Service Providers.

Engr. Nnamani is also the Chairman of Demadiur Systems Limited. He played pivotal roles in deploying the telephony networks of Rainbownet Limited in the cities of Enugu, Aba, Owerri, Abakiliki, Onitsha, and Nsukka, all in the eastern region of Nigeria. Demadiur also successfully deployed the networks of Megatech Engineering in Kano and Startech Networks in Abuja.

Prior to founding Demadiur, he worked as an optical systems engineer at Luxcore Networks Inc., in Atlanta Georgia, USA. While at Luxcore, he helped design and manufactured Luxcore’mbdaXchange is the world first demonstrated All Optical Router. The LambdaXchange won the best system award at the 2001 Optical Fiber Conference at Anaheim, California.

As a researcher at the Design Methodologies Laboratory, Tennessee State University, he was involved in the conceptual design of now patented Expanded Accommodation Tool used in the Joint Strike Force project by the United State Military. The project was executed on behalf of Boeing Aerospace in St Louis, Missouri. He received numerous awards from Boeing Aerospace for his contribution to the success of the project. He also designed and successfully tested a prototype Trident II submarine umbilical retract mechanism used by the United States Navy, Strategic Ballistic Missiles Defense Program. Engr. Nnamani was awarded a United States Navy plaque for outstanding work on the project. His work has been published in numerous international publications including Boeing Aerospace newsletter, and the 2002 Region XI technical journal of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) International.

A multi-discipline specialist, Engr. Nnamani is well knowledgeable in different fields of engineering including Oil and Gas, Power Systems, Manufacturing Systems, and Software Development. In telecoms and information technology he is versed in IP/TDM telephony, GSM/CDMA technologies, and broadband systems deployment including triple play service delivery to subscribers utilizing fiber-to-the-home infrastructure.

In February 2006, Engr. Nnamani was appointed by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) as a member of the implementation committee that will deploy Nigeria’s first Internet Exchange. The Lagos Internet Exchange has been deployed and is fully operational.

Engr. Ikechukwu Nnamani holds a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering degree from Tennessee State University, Nashville Tennessee, USA as well as a Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering degree from University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
