Matthew is currently Director, Business and Operations Strategy at Google (Nasdaq: GOOG).  In this role he leads project teams to address strategic opportunities and challenges facing the company for senior management.  His most recent work includes leading the strategic initiative for Google in Sub-Saharan Africa, including launching offices throughout the region.  Matthew is also leading the Green Business Operations team which helps evaluate/ implement Renewable Energy investments and projects, and other green initiatives.

Prior to Google, Matthew was Vice President, Pharmacy/ Chief Pharmacy Officer for drugstore.com (Nasdaq: DSCM), the leading online health and beauty retailer.  As an officer for the company, Matthew was the general manager of the health business, including prescription drugs and contact lenses, generating over $200 million in revenue.  Previously, Matthew served as Chief Operating Officer for the North American division of WorldRes, a global online hotel reservations network generating over $250 million in reservations annually for more than 35,000 hotels. He was a Management Consultant with McKinsey & Company for over five years, and also with Price Waterhouse.  In addition, Matthew is a co-founder of CyberJava, the first Internet cafe in Southern California.  Prior to college, Matthew was a video game programmer for the Atari 6502c.  He received his Juris Doctorate from UCLA School of Law.  He received Bachelor of Science degrees with High Honors in Computer Engineering and Management from Case Western Reserve University.  Matthew is a member of the California State Bar.

Matthew lives in San Francisco. Until recently, he lived aboard his 35-foot sailboat for over fourteen years. In addition to sailing, he enjoys backpacking, running and diving.  His personal interests include jazz piano improvisation and creative writing.  He studied Fine Arts and enjoys drawing, painting and sculpture.  Matthew is an avid traveler, having visited over 60 countries and territories.   Matthew was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, and is an Eagle scout.
