President and COO Xpert Financial
Jim Anderson joined Xpert Financial as President and COO in January 2012. Founded in 2009, Xpert
Financial is the leading electronic platform for private companies to raise capital and access liquidity for
existing shareholders.
Mr. Anderson is serial entrepreneur in financial services with more than 25 years experience in investment
banking, commercial banking and investment management. He founded three different businesses
providing services to clients ranging from small development stage companies to investment grade
corporations.
Mr. Anderson is a frequent commentator and public speaker on the economy and financial matters for
emerging growth companies. His weekly publication, Postcard From the Telecosm, reached more than
5,000 readers. He has been published in MarketWatch, The Huffington Post, Seeking Alpha, the editorial
pages of the Wall Street Journal and many other industry publications.
Mr. Anderson was founder and President of SVB Analytics, a firm which provides solutions to analytical
problems specific to emerging growth companies. In three years under his leadership, SVB Analytics
became the largest provider of valuation opinions for private companies in the U.S. SVB Analytics also
published the first detailed and comprehensive quantitative research on venture investing including sector
studies covering round step-up valuations, time-to-exit, dollars-to-exit and multiples-at-exit.
Mr. Anderson was also President of eProsper, a SaaS software company acquired by SVB Analytics in
2006. eProsper's CapMx software became the industry standard for capitalization management and
options accounting serving over 3,000 venture-backed companies.
Mr. Anderson joined Silicon Valley Bank in 1999. He founded and served as President of SVB Securities,
Silicon Valley Bank's broker dealer subsidiary. He also founded and served as President and Chief
Investment Officer of SVB Asset Management These groups today hold total client assets in excess of $16
billion.
Prior to his career at SVB, Mr. Anderson was Managing Director of Technology Investment Banking for
CIBC Oppenheimer where he initiated the firm's entry into the that sector in 1991. In his early banking
career, Mr. Anderson held a variety of positions with Chase Manhattan Bank, including managing the West
Africa Region based in Dakar, Senegal. He also worked as a software engineer at Electronic Data Systems
and served as a math professor in the U.S. Peace Corps in The Democratic Republic of the Congo (Zaire).
Mr. Anderson earned an MBA from the American Graduate School of International Management and a
bachelor's degree in mathematics from the State University of New York. He is a Chartered Financial
Analyst. Mr. Anderson resides in San Francisco with two of his three children.
