Nozomi Mizuno Witherspoon is a Financial Sector Specialist at the World Bank, managing financial sector and private sector development projects in East Africa. The World Bank is an international organization aims to reduce poverty in middle-income and creditworthy poorer countries by promoting sustainable development through loans, guarantees, risk management products, and analytical and advisory services. It also provides interest-free loans (IDA credits/grants) to government of the poorest countries.
Among others, Nozomi currently works on a policy dialogue between East African Community and 5 EAC partner states with provision of creating a single market in East Africa, a project to promote financial sector growth and stability in Tanzania ($30 million), and a project to develop mortgage finance market in Tanzania ($40 million). Prior to joining the World Bank, Nozomi worked at Microfinance NGO, branch office in Tanzania. She holds Masters in Sustainable International Development from Brandeis.
